FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does it cost?

The answer to this questions depends on the amount of Dermal Filler needed to achieve your look? Typically pricing in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Edmonton is around $1000 dollars – this is for one syringe of product injected. Prices will vary based on product used and injectors experience level.

Your best bet is to go and see a reputable cosmetic doctor to get an educated opinion. Be sure to let them know exactly what you want to achieve. Be direct and ask “is this possible”? If they say no…believe them.

A non-surgical nose job is a wonderful method to use for dents, irregularities, bumps or noses that are too small. Remember that Dermal Filler Nose Jobs add volume and therefore are not best if your goal is to slim or shorten the nose. Still start by consulting a local aesthetics doctor to get an expert opinion first. They will be able to tell you what your next step should be.

The answer to this question is based on the skill of your injector. HA Filler placed improperly can make the Bulbous nasal tip look larger. An injector who places the HA Filler into the bridge of the nose will be able to provide balance for the tip. Start by seeing a cosmetic doctor and go through the consultation process.

Dermal Fillers can be used very effectively to fill in a dent in the nose. There will be great improvement but it will not be gone completely. See a qualified cosmetic doctor as this is a delicate procedure. Once you have gotten the non-surgical nose job see how you feel. If you are happy with the result great! You can avoid a rhinoplasty.

Dermal Fillers can be used successful to enhance facial symmetry and overall aesthetics of the nose and face. See a cosmetic doctor for a consultation and be very clear on what exactly you are looking to achieve. A good cosmetic doctor will tell you openly what is possible and what is not.

You definitely want to make sure that all your growing is done before you start looking at a non-surgical nose job. A client should be over 18 years old before this procedure. Rhinoplasty is sometimes done on young patients due to health necessity.

Absolutely! Properly placed filler of the right consistency and amount can do wonders for defining the nose bridge. Make sure you see a cosmetic doctor and get a thorough consultation before you start. Be clear with your goals or the look you wish to achieve. Your cosmetic doctor should be looking at symmetry and proportion to the rest of the face.

Procedures that use hyaluronic acid, neuro-modulators and other injected products should exclusively be done by a trained cosmetic doctor or a delegated nurse injector. At Dr. Bector Cosmetic, Dr. Bector does the procedure himself.

What is Botox?

Botox in the cosmetic world is used to relax muscles that cause the skin above them to wrinkle. Botox effectively prevents these muscles from contracting and therefore prevents fine lines and wrinkles on the surface skin. Botox is a brand name for botulism toxin, other brands include Dysport and Xeomin.

If you would like to address wrinkles, both existing and preventatively, Botox is your treatment. The injection addresses frown lines, crows feet, forehead creases, smokers lines around the mouth, downturned smiles, and chords within the neck.
Botox should not be confused with dermal fillers. Botox will not fill in lots of volume.

Most medical doctors charge $10-$20 for Botox in the greater Toronto area. Some doctors will charge for a treatment area, for instance half the face, but most doctors charge per unit. If you are getting Botox at a price range between $5 – $9 per unit something might be wrong. Many med spas offer Botox that is diluted, less effective and more dangerous. Make sure that the Botox being injected is pure, not mixed with other ingredients, the right dose and injected into the right muscle. Do not price shop Botox.

I strongly recommend that you see a cosmetic doctor who understands facial anatomy and has taken additional courses and certification in facial aesthetics. Although Botox is not as complex as surgery it requires an understanding a facial symmetry and how the underlying muscles interact with each other. A botched Botox job will last between four and six months. It’s just not worth it to shop for price alone! See a qualified medical professional.

There’s not much to do prior to your Botox injections. Make sure that during your consultation your cosmetic doctor has informed you of the number of units they will be injecting and the price per unit. If you are taking supplements or medication be sure to inform your cosmetic doctor during the consultation process.

Most doctors recommend no strenuous physical activity for up to at least four hours Post injection. They also recommend that you should not lie down as product may migrate two unintended areas of the face. Completely avoid facial massage or rubbing of the face for at least 48 hours as this may move the product as well.
Most patients who get Botox are able to resume their daily activity immediately. It isn’t normal to have slight redness or bruising but this should be remedied to quickly and not linger. Heaviness in the area usually indicates over injection of the Botox.

If you’re injected by a qualified cosmetic doctor others should not be able to tell that you got Botox. Your face should is essentially look Younger and more fresh.

Botox has been around for decades and is actually considered quite safe. Safety concerns arise when the product is in properly dosed or injected. In some cases natural side effects from Botox maybe a mild headache, slight bruising and redness. Botox that has been injected incorrectly can result in drooping eyelids, raised eyebrows, asymmetrical smiles, or a frozen look to the face.

Most cosmetic doctors will agree that Botox should not be administered during pregnancy or while breast-feeding.

What exactly are lip fillers?

Lip fillers are a procedure used for adding fullness, volume and symmetry to the lips. This procedure and the amount and type of dermal filler used should be tailored to each clients facial proportions. All of the dermal fillers that we use a made from Hyaluronic Acid, a substance occurring natural in the body.

HA based fillers are great to hydrate and revitalize the entire lip area. HA holds approximately 1000 times in own weight in water – giving it great hydration potential. In your lips, the HA molecule brings increased water to the area and gives a plumped appearance.

We often use HA fillers to sharpen or create a more attractive lip contour. We can also create or emphasise a more pronounced cupid’s bow.

We at LipDoctor – Full Body Cosmetics are committed to using the best Dermal Fillers on the market and we also emphasise using the right quantity and consistency of product to support your individual facial features. We want your lips to look natural and soft; and to move according to your facial expression.

The amount of time that the Lip Filler lasts varies from client to client. You can expect the duration to be between 4-12 months depending on your metabolism.

You will definitely see the difference right away but optimal results will be achieved in about 2 weeks as the HA filler settles and integrates itself with your own tissue.

You should definitely see a Cosmetic Doctor for consultation before doing this procedure. Ask questions and go with your gut in terms of trust and overall comfort level. Although most people are suitable candidates for this procedure, a good Doctor will always be aware of your health history before this procedure.

All of the dermal fillers that we use contain lidocaine which causes numbing as soon as we start injecting. We do also numb the lips using a topical anesthetic before starting the procedure. Our clients do not classify this as a painful experience but do feel mild discomfort.

Typically you will see some swelling post injection and may rarely have a little bit of bruising. This will go away on its own after a few days and should not cause alarm. It is recommend to schedule you appointment at a time when you do not have some sort of special occasion within a one week period just to be safe.

What is a dermal filler?

Dermal fillers are substances that are injected into an area to restore/add volume to areas of the face/body. The most common dermal fillers use hyaluronic acid (HA) in a variety of consistencies.

Dermal Fillers are most often used in the face for:

  • Lip augmentation
  • Under eye and mid cheek re-volumization
  • Fill in hollows of the temple
  • Reshape/contour the nose
  • Augment cheek bones
  • Reshape the Chin and jaw line
  • Smooth the forehead
  • Smooth the nano labial folds
  • Smooth Marionette lines

Most injections dermal fillers have minimal discomfort associated with them. We will also at times use topical anesthetics to minimize discomfort when injecting sensitive areas such as the lips. Patients typically describe the pain level as 2 or 3 out of 10.

Results of treatment with dermal fillers are seen immediately following treatment.

The length of time filler lasts will vary depending on type of filler used, area injected, and patient metabolism and activity level. Generally ranges are as follows:

  • Lip filler – 4-8 months
  • Under Eye – 8-16 months
  • Nose – 8-24 months
  • Mid Cheek – 8-16 months
  • Temples – 12-24 months
  • Cheek Bones- 8-16 months
  • Chin/Jaw Line – 8-16 months
  • Naso labial folds – 8-12 months
  • Marionette lines – 6-12 months• Forehead – 8-14 months

The most common side effects are swelling or bruising of the area that is being treated. With the use of cannula techniques these side effects can be minimized.
Infection due to injection is rare and is possible with any procedure that breaks the skin. Proper cleansing and disinfection will further minimize this risk.
Scar tissue formation after injection is also possible, but rare. Use of newer fillers once again minimizes this potential side effect.
More serious side effects associated with injection into a blood vessel are extremely rare. This can lead to tissue break down (necrosis) and in some very rare instances blindness (with injection into a blood vessel that supplies blood to the optic nerve). Using cannulas to inject in the areas around the eyes, and avoiding injection of areas that have arteries that communicate with the blood supply of the eye greatly reduces this risk.

What is Belkyra?

Belkyra is made from deoxycholic acid (DEO) and is most commonly used to treat moderate to severe submittal fat (fat under the chin). DEO is a naturally occurring molecule created and excreted by liver to aid in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat in the body.

Belkyra’s use for other body parts is currently being researched and the results are promising if the Cosmetic Doctor is well educated in the products use. Belkyra should only ever to done after a thorough consultation with an experienced Doctor. Your medical history is pertinent to this procedures safety and efficacy.

It is not uncommon to experience swelling, pain, numbness and redness, tingling or itching, areas that feel hard or general bruising. Having said this, some clients experience none of these symptoms. It is best to expect at least one to two days of downtime.

The exact number of treatments will be determined by your cosmetic doctor during the consultation. Most commonly are clients require about 4 treatments that are administered every 4-6 weeks. Optimal results will be realized approximately 6 weeks after your last treatment.

Yes the results you achieve are permanent and you will not need re-treatment. With each injection the fats cells are destroyed and flushed out of your body; your body cannot create more fat cells. It should be noted that if you gain weight, your remaining fat cells will increase in size.

Our client satisfaction rate is very high, approximately 90%. Clients report better self esteem and being more confident.

This question is best answered during your consultation with the Doctor. If you are bothered by fullness under your chin, do not want surgery and are committed to eating well and exercising after the procedure, you should move to the consultation phase.

A Belkyra treatment is administered through a series of injections into the area requiring treatment. The treatment from start to finish, including cleaning and numbing the skin, takes approximately 20-30 minutes.

For most of our clients downtime is not a concern and side effects are usually experienced after the first treatment only. Every person is different and this is why we advise giving a few days buffer for this treatment if you have a special occasion coming up.

What exactly is vaginoplasty?

With childbirth and aging women will often have weakening/looseness of the pelvic muscles, connective tissue and vaginal wall.
Vaginoplasty is the tightening of the vaginal wall and surrounding muscles, tendons and ligaments.
At Lip Doctor Full Body cosmetics we use the Votiva Radio Frequency Device to gently tighten the vaginal wall, and surrounding muscles/ligments. Most women will require 1 to 3 treatments. Women can expect to see an improvement in bladder control, appearance, and sexual satisfaction.

A Labiaplasty is the reshaping of the inner lips of the female genitals, usually done to make them smaller. Excess skin can be surgically removed, or made smaller using a radio frequency fractional device such as the In-Mode Fractora.

Darkening of the skin in of the perineum can occur with age, child birth, and/or hormonal changes. Using a laser/IPL treatment the hyper-pigmented skin can be treated and gradually lightened.

Non surgical vaginal/pelvic floor tightening involves the use of heat generated from the radio frequency device to tighten tissue and induce production of collagen. This should not be a painful process, typically generating a feeling of warmth.
The non surgical labiaplasty with Fractora requires the use of a topical anesthetic cream. After the topical anesthesia takes effect the discomfort associated with treatment is minimal. These two treatments require little to no down time with most women able to resume regular activity immediately after treatments.

Non-Surgical treatment usually starts at approximately $1799, and costs will vary depending on the number and type of treatments required.

This will vary from woman to woman, depending on age, genetics, giving birth to another child, and physical activity levels. Generally most women will require a single follow up treatment every one to two years to maintain vaginal and pelvic muscle tightness.

What are the main causes of hair loss in the female population?

Hair thinning in women can start as early as after puberty and is mainly the result of genetic factors. Other factors effecting hair loss include nutrition, illness, stress, smoking and persistent use of medications. Over time hair follicles will weaken and stop producing hair or hair will fall out prematurely.

Hair loss in men typically follows a very specific progressive pattern that we know is hereditary and often is triggered by Dihydrotestesterone (DHT). As the hair follicle get smaller and weaker, hair coverage of the scalp lessens leaving balding and thinning areas. Other factors influencing hair loss in men include nutrition, illness, stress, smoking and persistent use of medications

Your first step should be to see a credentialed hair restoration / cosmetic doctor with plenty of experience in diagnosis, successful treatment and longterm management of re-growth. During our consultation at LipDoctor – Full Body Cosmetics you can expect the following:

  • We will get a detailed ‘workup’ regarding your medical history, your family medical history, nutrition, current medications, hair care regimen, and detailed about when you started to experience hair loss.
  • We will, when necessary perform a medical blood test and a detailed examination of your scalp.
Once we have finished our evaluation we will wait for results of any tests that were performed and formulate an action plan with you.

PRP Rejuvenation is a non surgical, in office treatment that takes approximately one hour to perform. We will draw your blood and use our state-of-the-art equipment which separates and concentrates the plasma and platelets from the blood we collected from you. PRP is rich in growth factors and cytokines that have been shown effective in stimulating hair follicles. The scalp is cleaned and prepared. Small injections are administered which deliver platelet derived growth factors into the weakened hair follicle and surrounding area.

It is hard to say specifically without consultation but we do find that two types of clients respond particularly well:
• Clients with weak quality hair growth – hair is falling out prematurely or breaks very easily• Clients who have a good number of functioning hair follicles with small areas of hair loss/thinning.

PRP Hair Rejuvenation is best completed in a series of 3 spread one month apart. Optimal results will be seen about 6 months after the first treatment was administered. Appropriate hair products should be used to maintain results.

The main risk factor for this procedure is the person doing the consultation and treatment. Your doctor must be careful in terms of application equipment sanitation and techniques used during the procedure. The doctor must understand your medical history and what medications you are on.

It is a comfortable procedure that is non surgical and can be completed in a doctors office with one hour.
Hair growth can be observed in as little as 3 months and improves with the passage of time.
Use of your own blood plasma and platelets without any additives.

This truly depends on how committed you are to a maintenance plan. We typically will see a client every year for one treatment after they complete their initial treatment set of 3.

  • We ask that you do not wash your hair / scalp after treatment for at least 6 hours and preferably 8 hours.
  • No harsh chemicals, colouring or perming treatments for at least 72 hours.

You may experience some mild scalp inflammation and numbness for several hours after treatment, this is normal and not a cause for concern.

Clients should be educated by their cosmetic doctor about what to expect with PRP Hair Rejuvenation and what the contraindications are:

  • Areas of severe hair loss and look inflamed should not be treated
  • Certain clients with disorders including: liver disease, blood and platelet disorders, an active infection that is being treated, taking of a anti-coagulant, or cardiovascular instability should not do PPR based treatments.

Nowadays many businesses are offering this service without having a medical doctor present at the location; they will tell you they have a medical director – BE WARY. Seek out a doctor who is willing to spend the time on a detailed client consultation and who is asking medical questions during that consultation – not just shooting the S***.
